Q: What is an auto transport broker?
A: An auto transport broker, like A2Z Transport, works with a network of pre-screened carriers to find you the most competitive rates combined with the best reputation and service. Working with a network of carriers allows us to tailor our transport service to your specific needs and schedule. An auto transport broker has access to a large number of options due to our ability to work with multiple carriers. We can locate and reserve space on thousands of trucks whereas an individual carrier can only reserve space on a small fleet.
Q: Why choose an auto transport broker instead of working directly with a carrier?
A: Because carriers are limited by their fleet size, they will often overbook their trucks and then choose only the jobs that are the most lucrative for them, sometimes leaving customers stranded at the last minute. Due to the volume of business we provide to our pre-screened auto carriers, our customers are always their top priority. You can book a move with A2Z Transport with full confidence that your cargo will get delivered on time.
Q: Is A2Z Transport a fully licensed and bonded auto transport broker?
A: Yes. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (USDOT) have granted full broker authority to A2Z Transport under license number MC507421. The FMCSA stores our surety bond information under the same license number MC507421 and is accessible for viewing at www.fmcsa.dot.gov.
Q: Do I need to purchase additional insurance for auto transportation?
A: No. Insurance is included in your quote for auto transport. While in transit, your vehicle is covered by the carrier's primary insurance. All our pre-screened carriers are fully licensed and insured. All auto shipping and car transport trucks, by law, carry a minimum of $750,000 public liability insurance. In addition A2Z Transport requires that each independent contractor's insurance agency supplies us with a certificate of insurance naming A2Z Transport LLC as an additional insured or certificate holder. To further protect our clients, A2Z Transport provides a $100,000 supplementary cargo policy (included in every auto transport quote at no additional cost) should the auto carrier’s policy not cover the full amount.
Q: Do you provide full insurance coverage for auto transportation?
A: Yes. A2Z Transport and its network of drivers are fully covered against any accident that could harm your car or freight during transport.
Q: Can you provide a Certificate of Insurance?
A: Yes. A2Z Transport makes sure that every car we transport is insured for its full value by only working with carriers who are fully insured. Valid certificates of insurance from A2Z Transport and our affiliated carriers are always provided upon request.
Q: Does your auto transportation rate include door to door service?
A: Yes. A2Z Transport provides door-to-door auto transport service, which means your vehicle is picked up from your home or business and delivered to the address provided to us. If the auto transport carrier cannot access the address (due primarily to size or vehicle restrictions in your area) we will be able coordinate with you and the driver to find an accessible alternative location to pick up your vehicle or cargo.
Q: When do I pay for my order?
A: When you schedule your move with A2Z Transport, you will be required to make a deposit, with the remaining balance payable to the driver who drops off your vehicle(s) or cargo. The amount of the initial deposit varies depending on service.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: A2Z Transport accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Your final payment to our driver can be made with cash or certified check (in many instances drivers will accept major credit cards as well).
Q: What if my vehicle is inoperable?
A: A2Z Transport will move inoperable vehicles, though there is an additional fee. Please be sure to tell us that the vehicle is inoperable when you request the quote.
Q: How long does it take to transport my vehicle or cargo?
A: Time of transport depends on the physical distance involved and the type of service desired. Each move is unique, but A2Z Transport’s quote process will give you a targeted idea of how long it will take us to move your vehicle or cargo.
Q: How far in advance should I schedule auto and cargo shipping?
A: We recommend scheduling your shipment at least 10 days prior to your preferred pick-up date. By placing your auto transport order in advance we have a greater chance of picking up your vehicle on your most favored date. However, A2Z Transport can accommodate most last-minute auto transport requests. If your pick-up must be scheduled soon, please call A2Z Transport immediately to discuss transport options.
Q: What kind of truck will transport my car?
A: That depends on the kind of car you’re shipping and the type of service requested. If you have a classic, modified or collector car a covered auto transport is recommended to ship your car to its destination. This practice ensures protection of your vehicle from the elements. Flat-bed service is employed for inoperable autos, high-value exotics and classics. Otherwise, it’s likely that a common car-carrier truck (which transports new cars to dealerships) will be used to transport your car.
Q: What if my car is damaged during transport?
A: When your car arrives at your home, please inspect it fully before signing your bill of lading. In the rare case that a car is damaged during shipping, the carrier’s policy will cover the claim. Please note - claims can only be made if the damage was noted and discussed with the driver at the time of delivery. Your vehicle(s) will be insured against in-transit damage caused by carrier negligence or equipment failure by the auto shipping or car transport truck that we assign. These auto shipping and car transport trucks, by law, carry a minimum of $750,000 public liability insurance. In addition A2Z Transport requires that each independent contractor's insurance agency supplies us with a certificate of insurance naming A2Z Transport LLC as an additional insured or certificate holder. This certificate comes from the insurance agent's office, not from the independent contractor. The amount of cargo insurance depends on the size and type of their equipment. Any insurance deductible is paid by the independent contractor. If damage is incurred we will act as liaison during the settlement of your claim. To further protect our clients, A2Z Transport provides a $100,000 supplementary cargo policy (included in every auto transport quote at no additional cost) should the auto carrier’s policy not cover the full amount.
Q: How will I know when my car will be picked up and delivered?
A: Auto transport pick up times and dates are scheduled according to your request. Our large network of carriers allows us to accommodate almost any pick-up or delivery request. Before delivery of your car or freight you will be contacted directly by the truck driver/carrier 12 to 24 hours in advance to schedule a specific delivery time.
Q: Do you provide auto garaging services?
A: Yes. A2Z Transport can store your vehicle for an extended period if necessary. Please contact us by telephone for more information about garaging and storage.
Q: Can I put items in the car during transport?
A: A2Z Transport does not authorize the transportation of personal belongings in the vehicle. Please understand that the items that you put in your vehicle will not be available to you until the vehicle is delivered. Please do not put items such as medicine, presents, or any other item that is needed by a specific time. If the truck is delayed, the items will not be available to you until the vehicle is delivered. No more than 100 pounds of soft goods such as pillows or blankets is recommended. Not only are auto shipping and car transport companies not insured for household goods, it is against the law for them to transport anything except your vehicle. The auto shipping and car transport truck is subject to inspection by the USDOT and the Police at every state line and weigh station and can be fined up to $10,000 if found to be carrying household goods. The car is subject to being impounded and all fines and expenses will be passed along to the owner of the car. Under NO circumstances can the car contain firearms, hazardous materials, illegal substances, or contraband. Any items left in the vehicle are totally at the owner's personal risk.
